Chicago with Love

Greetings everyone, my name is Ase Selah. Currently pursing my MFA degree at the Art institute of Chicago. It's been one week and the direction of my work has changed significantly. Let me explain, i've always had a fascination with color. I'm particularly interested in how colors are associated with emotion. My works contain figurative references with a play on nuance associated with culture and human behavior. I am intrigued by the theory of motion and the idea of exaggerated gestures. In my pre-graduate studies my works focused on the two dimensional plane that has now developed a new interest within the laws of physics. I currently want to associate the use of color and how it corresponds with motion by the manipulation of light. Essentially, i want to create an experience within the realms of perception. My background in social work and being an art educator has shown me various levels of human behavior on a wide spectrum.  There are things that we experience such as trauma to bliss that i plan to explore. When i look at color i see a key element of vibration and how it associates with emotion. This is one of the many reasons why i use color psychology within my creative process. With this information in mind, this blog will serve as a means of vulnerability and artistic exploration for me. I invite all feedback and i highly encourage informative comments. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
